Executive Chef of the Galaxy: Angus O’Hara

The Galaxy Restaurant is pleased to announce the hiring of Executive Chef, Angus O’Hara.

O’Hara’s education is both formal and professional, an alumnus of The University Of Iowa, Kendall Culinary College, Kirkwood Community College (Culinary), The Chicago Wine College, Windows on the World, Simi Wine Program and a host of other seminars, programs and competitions.

O’Hara served as Function director, Chef and Sommelier for the Premiere Catering Company in Chicago, Catering By Michaels, Sommelier and Chef at The Chicago Symphony Orchestra where he worked with Maestro Daniel Barenboim and professional Musicians Zubin Metha, Pinchas Zucherman and Yo Yo Ma. In the private sector, O’Hara created culinary preparations for Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, Former Irish Minister of Defense Michael Smith, Cardinals Bernadine and George in Chicago, Oprah Winfrey, Jenny Jones and Coach Mike Ditka. Prior to The Galaxy, O’Hara was the Executive Chef at RJ Bolands in Cleveland. O’Hara owned his own Italian restaurant in Hermitage PA. O’Hara was the Food and Beverage Manager at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield and held the same position with Trumbull Country Club in Warren.

From Angus O’Hara in his own words:

I am so very proud and excited to be a part of the amazing concept that is known as The Galaxy!

My first time in a professional kitchen was in the 3rd grade when we had a local career day. When the 8 year olds were asked what they wanted to do “when they grew up” I said that I wanted to be a Chef.

My education was both formal and professional, working to pay for College at an Award Winning Hotel in Iowa City. It was there that, under the direction of Chef Don Funk, I was bestowed the title Garde de Manger (Keeper of the Food) and it was one of the proudest moments of my life.

I am an alumnus of The University of Iowa, Kendall Culinary College, Kirkwood Community College (Culinary), The Chicago Wine College, Windows on the World, Simi Wine Program and a host of other seminars, programs and competitions. My professional and educational experience has put me in some amazing places.

I live in Hubbard, Ohio with my wife of 10 Years, Heather. She has blessed me with my two beautiful sons Declan and Finnian.

My thoughts about cooking can be summed up this way: I am here for you, not the other way around! Cook it well, or not at all.
